Pink French Bulldog puppies

What is a pink French Bulldog?

‘Pink’ is a breeder term, not a colour recognised by the breed standard. Genetically, a pink French Bulldog is cream (e/e) on a lilac or isabella base, like a platinum. We use the name for dogs whose skin, nose and eye rims stay visibly pink. Pink is not albinism: the eyes have pigment, and the pale skin is simply low in dark pigment.

The genetics

Genotypee/e on a lilac or isabella base

Cream (e/e) keeps dark pigment out of the coat, and the dilute brown base underneath lightens the skin, nose and eye rims. The genotype is documented for every puppy.

Appearance

A pale cream to near-white coat with a pink nose, pink eye rims and light eyes. The pale, pink skin is sensitive to strong sun.

Pink and platinum are close relatives: both are cream (e/e) on a lilac or isabella base, and the genotype can be the same. The difference is pigment and shade. We call a puppy pink when its skin, nose and eye rims stay visibly pink and the coat has a warm cast; platinum when the coat is a cooler near-white and the nose and pads are lilac-grey. We judge this as the puppy matures and tell you which it is before you are offered a puppy.

Variations

Pink caramel

A warmer, caramel-toned pink.

Pink on isabella

Pink with an isabella base under the cream coat.

Fluffy pink

Pink with a long, soft coat.

Colour and the breed standard

The FCI breed standard for the French Bulldog recognises fawn, brindle and pied. Colours such as blue, lilac, isabella, chocolate and merle, and the long-haired fluffy coat, fall outside the standard, and some have been linked to health concerns, such as colour dilution alopecia in dilute dogs or deafness in double merles. We are open about this. It is why we never pair two merle dogs, why every parent’s full results are published, and why health and temperament decide each pairing, never colour alone.

Questions about pink French Bulldogs

Are pink French Bulldogs healthy?

Pink is not albinism and is not a disease in itself. Because pink dogs are cream on a dilute base, they share the dilute colours’ known risk of colour dilution alopecia (thinning hair and flaky skin), and their pale skin burns easily. We breed from parents with sound skin and coats and publish every parent’s test results.

Do pink French Bulldogs need sun protection?

Yes. The pale coat and lightly pigmented skin burn more easily than darker colours. Avoid strong midday sun in summer, offer shade, and use a dog-safe sunscreen on the nose, ears and thin-haired belly. This is ordinary care, not a sign of illness.

How much does a pink French Bulldog cost?

Our pink French Bulldog puppies start from €9,000. The price of an individual puppy depends on its confirmed genetics and sex and is shown on the puppy’s page.

Can I choose the colour of my puppy?

You tell us your preferred colour when you apply. Colour can vary within a litter, so we match puppies by temperament and home first and tell you honestly which colours a planned litter can produce.
